A gang of bikini-clad shoplifters were caught on camera allegedly trying to steal alcohol during the boozy Bank Holiday heatwave.

As temperatures soared across the UK, thousands of Brits flocked outdoors to enjoy the sunshine with drinks in hand – but some appeared unwilling to pay for theirs.

A group of five women descended on a local convenience store before allegedly helping themselves to alcohol and fleeing without paying.

One member of the gang, wearing a leopard-print bikini compared by locals to Kat Slater, made a beeline for a giant BuzzBallz drink on the shelf.

Moments later, another woman allegedly grabbed a can before the group hurried out of the shop empty-handed.

The incident happened at the Welcome Store in Castleford, Yorkshire on Monday (25 May).

One of the women waiting by the exit was reportedly carrying a towel and appeared to be wearing a bikini underneath her clothes.

The shop owner is now appealing for help to identify the alleged thieves, who visited the store at around 3pm. Several lakes and open green spaces are located close to the shop and were packed with sunseekers during the heatwave.

Locals were left stunned by the group’s antics after images circulated online.

One person said: “One on the left is Kat Slater.”

Another person said: “If Babestation did convenience stores.”

A third viewer wrote: “How cheeky.”

One commenter said: “Walk into steal wearing a bikini, seen it all now.
