Ruben Dias and Maya Jama recently called time on their 18-month relationship, but it’s claimed the footy star was “toe-dipping” on Instagram during their romance
Maya Jama’s ex Ruben Dias has been accused of following other women on social media while in a relationship with her. It comes as the Love Island host tries to move on without him ahead of the new series next week.
Both Maya and Ruben called time on their relationship in April after 18 months together. At the time, the pair said they had “reached a crossroads” and were set on taking different paths.
However, it has now emerged that the footy ace had allegedly been sending late night follow requests to other women on Instagram. The Daily Star has reached out to Ruben’s representatives for comment.
According to the Sun, Ruben was “toe dipping”, which involves following an Instagram account to try and get a response. If the person doesn’t follow back then, then the initial follow is taken back.
It’s said the Manchester City star would tend to follow a woman in the evening, only to unfollow them the next day. Screenshots obtained by The Sun, thought to be from March, suggest he followed bridal designer and model Catarina Duraes, but then unfollowed her the next morning.
It’s claimed this happened again in November 2025, with Ruben allegedly following Claire, a Scottish brunette from the town of Perth.
A source claimed to the publication: “It might just seem like a simple follow online but it’s the intention behind it, following someone to see if they follow back and interact, and always doing it late at night − it’s seedy. It suggests he’s sat browsing Instagram and what happens if they do follow back or DM?”
It’s believed neither Catarina nor Claire followed Ruben back. However, there is also nothing to confirm that Ruben had cheated on Maya during their time together.
Both Maya and Ruben mutually agreed to end the relationship at the end of April, right before she flew to Inverness to film The Celebrity Traitors. But it seems Ruben is already getting back onto the market, as he tries to move from Maya.
