William Kidd, 27, was caught on CCTV following women at shopping centres and spraying semen at their hair or backs from a bottle admitting he did it ‘for a sexual thrill’
A self confessed “sex addict” who squirting liquid containing his semen at woman has admitted he “did it for a sexual thrill”.
William Kidd, 27, from Stockport, was captured four times on CCTV trailing women in stores before spraying them with a liquid from a bottle containing his sperm. He aimed at their hair or backs, with his victims often oblivious to what had occurred.
Cheshire Police Forensic analysis later revealed the substance was Kidd’s semen. He committed these acts in shops in Stockport and Denton in neighbouring Tameside – as well as Macclesfield, Handforth and Stanley Green in Cheshire – between May and September last year.
When challenged by a security guard he confessed: “I’m a sex addict.” He told another: “I did it to get a sexual thrill.”
Police reported Kidd was once observed following a woman, who was shopping with her five-year-old daughter and filming her, reports the Manchester Evening News. He was identified following a public appeal and arrested last October.
A search of his phone uncovered disturbing footage, including a video tracking a woman pushing a child in a shopping trolley while he filmed up her skirt.
Kidd, of Stanbank Street, Reddish, Stockport, pleaded guilty to 25 offences. The offences include 11 sexual assaults, five counts of voyeurism, eight counts of filming women underneath their clothing and one count of possession of cannabis.
He was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Friday May 29, receiving a four-year prison term. Detective Constable Tiffany Berry-Perkin, from Cheshire Police, stated: “Kidd deliberately targeted innocent women as they went about their everyday lives, entirely unaware of the depraved acts he was committing against them.
“His behaviour is completely unacceptable, and I welcome the fact that he is now being held accountable behind bars, where he can no longer pose a danger to women in our communities.”
Detective Sergeant Steven Kaminski added: “Kidd was fully aware that what he was doing was wrong. He knew his actions would cause his victims extreme distress, yet he chose to continue, deliberately travelling to multiple stores across two counties with the intention of violating and ultimately sexually assaulting innocent women.
“Putting an end to violence against women and girls remains a top priority for the force, and we will continue to remove sexual predators like Kidd from Cheshire and ensure they see justice.”
Senior Crown Prosecutor Shannen Carey, from the Crown Prosecution Service Mersey‐Cheshire’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, said: “Over a period of around four months last summer, William Kidd became a prolific offender targeting women who were completely unaware of what he was doing and were simply shopping.
“Kidd clearly gave no thought at all to how these women would feel. The effect of what he did will no doubt stay with the victims for a long time, and he is now a convicted sex offender.
“The Crown Prosecution Service would like to thank the victims for their help in bringing this prosecution, and the retail staff at the stores where the offending took place for their assistance in providing evidence. We would also like to thank Cheshire Police for their meticulous investigation.”
