A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found in a van parked in a Leicester city centre car park. Police detained the woman in Hounslow
A woman has been nicked on suspicion of murder after a bloke’s body was discovered in a van parked in a city centre.
Leicestershire Police revealed the remains were uncovered when officers forced their way into the Ford Transit van in a car park on Garden Street, Leicester, on Wednesday evening. The police were alerted by a member of the public who reported concerns about the state of the vehicle.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested from a property in Hounslow, west London, on suspicion of murder after police identified the address of the registered keeper of the van. The force confirmed she is still being held in custody.
Detective Inspector Kev Hames, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit major crime team, said: “I’d like to speak to anyone who can help with our investigation.
“The man was found in a white Ford Transit with the registration BF18 VNV.
“Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen this van in Garden Street or other parts of Leicester and Leicestershire to get in touch.
“This includes anyone who may have seen the van where they live or work to get in touch. I’d like to extend this appeal to anyone who may have captured its movements on CCTV or a dashcam.”
Meanwhile, a man and woman have been charged in relation to the death of a 30-year-old mum-of-one who was shot outside a bar in Sheffield in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday. Shanice Brookes was shot near the One Four One bar on West Street just before 2.45am on Monday, according to detectives who stated “she was simply an innocent bystander”.
On Friday, South Yorkshire Police announced that Jemele Rhone, 30, of Outram Road, Sheffield, has been charged with murder, possession of a firearm and possession of criminal property.
Deiryen Dyce, aged 32, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, has been charged with assisting an offender, possession of ammunition, possession of drugs with intent to supply, possession of drugs and possession of criminal property.
Both have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder in Sheffield on Monday has now been released and is no longer considered a suspect.
Police reported they were called to reports of a street altercation shortly before 2.45am.
