Details of Michael Schumacher’s “extremely demanding” medical routine have been disclosed during a trial involving the alleged rape of his former nurse by another racing driver.

Joey Mawson, who has raced in various categories including Formula Three, is accused of sexually assaulting the unconscious woman at the Schumacher family residence in Switzerland.

The nurse claims that she was raped twice by Mawson on the same day in 2019, but the Australian driver refutes the allegations and has previously asserted that the sex was consensual. The court on Tuesday (June 2) heard that, in an unrelated incident, the alleged victim lost her job working for the Schumacher family less than a year later.

Her solicitor provided insight into the nature of her work, which involved delivering round-the-clock care to the seven-time F1 world champion. The lawyer told the court: “It’s an extremely demanding job, both physically and emotionally.

“Added to that is the culture of silence surrounding this family. That’s understandable, but for the employees, who aren’t even allowed to talk to their friends about their daily lives, the pressure is enormous.

“I say this because it shows how seriously and passionately she performed her work. She was entrusted with the most difficult tasks.

“She stepped in when staff were needed, she filled the gaps.” He continued: “This is no ordinary profession.

“There are countless articles about what happens in this house and how the champion (Michael Schumacher) is doing. It is a test, an enormous amount of pressure, which she masters perfectly.

“She is impeccable. The Schumacher family themselves say that her work is perfect.”

Schumacher has not been spotted publicly since his life-threatening skiing accident 12 years ago, which occurred at the upmarket Meribel resort in the French Alps, reports the Express. The seven-time world champion has remained out of the public eye since he sustained serious injuries while skiing off-piste at the exclusive French resort of Meribel.

He endured a severe brain injury and spent six months in a medically induced coma before eventually being discharged home. Precious few details have emerged in the subsequent years, with the Schumacher family maintaining strict privacy.

Earlier this year, reports suggested that the 57-year-old is not confined to his bed but cannot walk and depends on carers to move him around his home in a wheelchair. He continues to receive 24-hour medical attention, with his care reportedly costing the Schumacher family tens of thousands of pounds each week.
