Yorkshire-based fashion retailer Leading Labels has confirmed the upcoming closure of its entire 15-store portfolio after being plunged into liquidation, adding to the growing list of UK fashion store closures
A UK fashion retailer has gone into liquidation after more than three decades in operation. Yorkshire-based Leading Labels, which offers discounted prices on major brands, announced this week that it would be closing its 15-store portfolio.
The company, founded in 1993, appointed Jeremy Bleazard of XL Business Solutions as liquidator on May 26, according to The Gazette. Companies House records show that Leading Labels has overdue accounts dating back to 2024.
The development comes after the retailer received a Gazette notice in March warning that it would be struck off the register and dissolved unless it provided a valid reason within two months.
Although the company has yet to release an official statement, clearance sales have begun across its UK locations as operations come to a close.
This news is another blow to the UK fashion industry, which has been struggling with increased costs, reduced spending, and lower foot traffic in recent months.
In May, clothing chain Quiz announced that it would close its remaining 37 stores by the end of June, having appointed administrators from advisory firm Interpath earlier in the year.
This marked the second time the retailer had fallen into administration within a year, having initially collapsed in February 2025 before being immediately acquired in a pre-pack deal by a subsidiary of the founding Ramzan family.
Quiz has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected by the closures, but it’s reported that over 100 head office and warehouse roles were potentially jeopardised when it entered administration, reports the Express.
