Four British Airways cabin crew have been suspended after a female flight attendant allegedly lifted her top and propositioned a night shift hotel worker in exchange for a bottle of wine.

Reports claim the stewardess, who was allegedly drunk, urged the hotel worker to “have a go on these funbags” as she “jigged up and down”. The crew had reportedly operated the final flight of the day from London to Belfast and began drinking at their hotel at around 9pm.

The encounter with the hotel worker is alleged to have taken place at about 1am. The worker later reported the alleged proposition, which is said to have taken place last month.

The incident was allegedly captured on the hotel’s CCTV system. As a result, British Airways then immediately suspended the flight attendant along with the three colleagues who were present during the drinking session, pending an internal investigation.

Because the four crew members were stood down, they were unable to operate their scheduled return flight to London the following morning, The Sun reported. British Airways was subsequently forced to fly replacement cabin crew to Belfast to prevent the service from being cancelled.

A source claimed to the newspaper: “She went down to the hotel lobby to ask for another bottle of wine. The guy told her the bar was closed.

“She lifted up her top and said ‘what if I let you have a go on these funbags?’. This behaviour was totally brainless. Boozing so heavily before a flight was unacceptable.”

British Airways reportedly told The Sun: “We expect the highest standards from our crew, and we are investigating this matter.” The Daily Star has contacted the airline for comment.

In the UK, the alcohol limit for air crew is 9 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath (or 20mg per 100ml of blood), more than four times lower than the standard drink-driving limit. This case follows another incident involving British Airways in May.

Flight attendant Deborah Merritt, 59, was arrested after operating a three-hour flight from London Heathrow to Malaga, Spain. She was said to have been wobbling and unsteady mid-flight, and was taken to the back of the aircraft and buckled into a seat for safety.

After the plane landed, she recorded an alcohol level reported to be eight times the legal limit for air crew, having admitted drinking bottles of wine the day before. British Airways subsequently sacked her.
