This is the shocking moment a holidaymaker is struck by Costa police after attempting to shadow box them while completely naked following a nude gym session on the seafront.

Officers began striking him with their batons after he hurled abuse at them in English and raised his fists in the air before pretending to spar with them in his birthday suit.

They eventually handcuffed him and bundled him into a patrol car following a brief tussle which ended with him scrambling across the sand on all fours attempting to escape in front of stunned British tourists. One UK holidaymaker could be heard gasping: ‘Oh my God’ as officers overpowered him while a Spaniard reacted to the sight of the police striking him with their batons by yelling: “Hit him, hit that d***head hard.”

The extraordinary incident unfolded on Friday on the beachfront in the Ibizan party hotspot of San Antonio. The detained man, an English speaker, could be heard using the F-word when he bellowed at police as they turned up to discover him perched on the seafront promenade.

Moments before he was captured doing press-ups on a bench before seemingly hurling his clothing including a trainer on the ground into the air in front of onlookers.

Police rushed to the scene after receiving a barrage of calls from worried members of the public within a very brief timeframe. Town hall insiders revealed that the callers described the detained man as “apparently drunk, disturbed and quite agitated, possibly due to the consumption of drugs” and causing a nuisance to locals and other holidaymakers on San Antonio’s s’Arenal beach.

He was subsequently taken to Can Misses Hospital in the island’s capital. Police have yet to confirm whether he is British and if he will face charges and appear before a judge.

The incident took place three days after footage surfaced showing two men transforming a San Antonio street into an impromptu boxing ring, much to the shock of tourists and locals, just hours after additional police support was announced for the area.

The duo ended up bloodied following the outbreak of street violence – which occurred on a mural in San Antonio’s infamous West End by Spanish artist Okuda. The artwork, worth a hefty £320,000, was designed to help shift the area from a nightlife hotspot to a cultural destination.

The men disregarded barrier fences and plastic tape indicating that the vibrant artwork was off-limits for repairs, choosing instead to brawl with each other.

One bystander attempted to break up the fight as they grappled on the ground at the start of the altercation, but another inexplicably intervened and threw a punch at the peacemaker, allowing the brawl to continue.

The fight escalated, with the taller man yanking his shorter, barefoot opponent by the hair to gain the upper hand before attempting to kick him in the head, thankfully failing to land a full blow.

Two fast-food workers standing in the doorway of a nearby restaurant looked on without emotion, as though they’d witnessed it all before. Video of the brawl surfaced as council leaders in San Antonio revealed plans for police reinforcements throughout the summer months.

The West End was amongst four areas within the municipality identified as priority zones where the additional officers would be stationed.

Earlier this week a British tourist was detained on a Benidorm beach after allegedly attempting to drown a stranger in the sea before turning on a child.

The 44-year-old, who had been staying at a hotel in the Costa Blanca resort, remains in hospital awaiting a psychiatric assessment following the shocking incident.

He was arrested late on Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder, assault and making threats before being taken into custody. The unnamed individual reportedly lost control at Poniente Beach, Benidorm’s longest and most expansive stretch of sand.

He allegedly attempted to drown a 34-year old Norwegian woman who was swimming with her boyfriend, seizing her by the throat and pushing her head beneath the water before her partner managed to rescue her following a struggle with the Briton.

He is then said to have moved towards the shore and grabbed a five year old Spanish lad by the throat who was enjoying a day out with his parents, attempting to suffocate him by pressing his face into the sand and pinning him down.

The child’s mother rushed to help alongside other beachgoers, while a lifeguard restrained and held the Brit until police arrived on the scene. Local reports claimed he acted aggressively following his detention and attempted to take his own life in his police cell using a blanket, which led to him being handcuffed and placed under a 24/7 watch.
