An update on Christian Eriksen has been shared after he collapsed during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine on Sunday
Christian Eriksen has reposted an update from Denmark national team doctor Martin Boesen confirming he is doing well. The midfielder collapsed during his nations friendly against Ukraine on Sunday with the worst feared following his cardiac arrest in 2021.
However, he regained consciousness quickly and was able to walk to an ambulance. Eriksen has since re-shared a social media update on his condition.
Boesen stated in that update: “I spoke with Christian this morning, and he is doing well. He is with his family and in good spirits. The expectation is that he will be discharged soon and return home.
“We are taking good care of the players and staff and remain in regular contact with them.”
The match between Denmark and Ukraine was level when Eriksen collapsed with the decision unanimous to not play the remaining minutes, as confirmed by Denmark head coach Brian Riemer.
After the game, he said: “Christian Eriksen waved to his teammates as he left the pitch. A few minutes before he fell ill, he had had a tussle with Ruslan Malinovskyi, and I thought that was why he looked so distressed, but I was wrong.
“From that moment on, neither I nor the players on the pitch could have carried on with the match.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him. I’m going over to see him now as soon as I have the chance. I need to see him and talk to him, I can feel that. He is a man who has meant a great deal to me.

“There are some players you become closer to than others, and he was one of those I became close to because of the experience he came with.
“And since then, we’ve also worked together with the national team, so he is someone I have a close relationship with and know very well. That is why it naturally sits very deeply with me.”
Former clubs Tottenham and Manchester United sent messages of support to Eriksen in the wake of the incident with every corner of the footballing world also wishing the best.

He was prevented from continuing his career in Serie A with Inter because of that which resulted in him joining Premier League side Brentford.
After impressing under Thomas Frank, he signed for Man United where he spent three years before joining Wolfsburg in Germany.
They were relegated from the Bundesliga in a play-off clash with Eriksen making 34 appearances. Denmark are also not in the World Cup having lost a play-off to Scotland earlier this year.
