Young girl raped in Nottingham metropolis centre as police shut down streets

A young woman has reportedly been raped in an incident in Nottingham city centre as police have closed off several streets.

Nottinghamshire Police have shut down Lace Market Square following reports of the rape, which was made to officers in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 13).

A cordon has also been placed along Adams Walk leading up to Fletcher Gate, reports the Nottingham Post.

Police said the victim, who they only describe as being a young woman, is being supported by officers. An investigation into the incident, which occurred at 2:46am, is still ongoing.

At the scene, a police car can be seen outside a branch of Pizza Punks, which is one of several businesses situated within the Adams Walk and Lace Market Square cordon.

Another vehicle is positioned next to the square, where an evidence cone has been placed next to some items.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.46am on Saturday to the Adams Walk area of Nottingham city centre after reports that a young woman had been raped.

“She is being supported by officers and investigations are ongoing.”
