A man has been arrested and two dogs seized after a woman in her 80s was seriously injured in an attack. Emergency services rushed to Lily Grove in Preston around 3.55pm on Saturday (June 13) following reports of a woman being mauled by dogs.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman had suffered severe bite wounds to her head. She was rushed off to hospital for treatment.

Lancashire Police confirmed that two dogs were seized in the aftermath of the incident and a police cordon was established while investigations took place.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. He remained in police custody on Sunday as enquiries continued, reports Lancs Live.

The police are now appealing for information as they strive to piece together the full circumstances of the attack.
