A 36-year-old man has been arrested following a series of incidents at a number of locations across Edinburgh and Leith on Friday, June 19, with four people taken to hospital
Four people have been rushed to hospital with injuries and a man has been arrested following a string of terrifying incidents across a UK city. Police have confirmed the arrest of a 36-year-old man after a series of incidents at “a number of locations across the West of Edinburgh and Leith” on Friday, June 19.
The authorities believe there is no additional risk to the public. This follows a substantial police presence on Leith Walk as a man was filmed brandishing what seemed to be a knife while striding down the street, much to the shock of local residents.
Another video depicted a man apparently armed with multiple blades attempting to break into a shop by shattering the window, causing staff to flee and lock themselves inside before lowering the shutter, reports Edinburgh Live.
Paramedics were also spotted attending to a man lying on the ground. Elsewhere in the city, a delivery rider was seen injured and lying on the pavement on Telford Road earlier in the evening.
Residents also reported Sighthill Park being cordoned off by police due to a serious incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “A 36-year old man has been arrested following a series of incidents at a number of locations across the West of Edinburgh, and Leith, during the evening of Friday, 19 June, 2026.”
Four people were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. “Enquiries are ongoing, however, we believe there to be no further risk to the public at this time.”
