A cold-blooded killer slit his wife’s throat before repeatedly puncturing her heart with a knife and hammer until he knew she was dead. Twisted James Christopher Frank, 58, has been locked up for life without parole after admitting to the first-degree murder of his 55-year-old wife, Deborah Glaser.

The horror came to light on March 11, 2025, when worried police raced to the couple’s home in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, USA. Officers were sparked into action by a concerned relative who called to say “they were worried about the residents” at the property, the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office confirmed.

When cops arrived at the address, they knocked loudly but were met with total silence. Refusing to back down, resourceful officers propped a ladder up against a second-storey window of the home, where they spotted Frank lurking inside, reports the Express US.

When officers ordered Frank to open the door, he declared: “My wife is dead in the bathtub,” according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Lehigh Valley Live.

Police entered the property and went to the bathroom, where they discovered Glaser with multiple stab wounds.

Officers also found “various cutting instruments, including knives, razor blades, and box cutters, along with a hammer and a mallet” in the room.

Frank gave police a comprehensive description of how he’d killed his wife during an appallingly brutal assault. He admitted that he’d “used a steak knife to cut Glaser’s throat in the trachea area while she was still alive,” the press release revealed.

“Frank then admitted to using a knife and a hammer to puncture Glaser’s chest and heart, estimating he did so approximately 10 times,” it added.

He reportedly told officers that he did so to “ensure Glaser was deceased.” She was pronounced dead at the scene and Frank was taken into custody.

The day before his wife’s body was discovered, Frank had failed to turn up for work, District Attorney Stephen Baratta informed news station WFMZ.

He was also missing from work on the day Glaser’s body was found. Baratta noted that Glaser appeared to have been dead for a substantial time before officers arrived.

“He admitted to having sliced her neck open. It was a pretty gruesome injury,” Baratta said.

He added: “We can’t confirm how long she had been dead, but it was pretty clear that it was many hours prior to the police response. It was gruesome and on a very human level, upsetting, especially given that it’s a domestic situation.”
