A man has been accused of an attack on a woman so horrific it reportedly left hospital staff stunned. Justin Plummer, from Fayette County in Indiana, USA, is said to be in custody on a $450,000 bond (£353,000) after police were called to a hospital where the woman was being treated.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reportedly said Plummer was arrested on June 15, after deputies were alerted three days earlier when the unnamed woman arrived injured.

Court documents obtained by WXIN claim she told hospital staff the pair had been arguing before Plummer allegedly threw her to the ground, sat on her chest and strangled her.

She said he then forced a rag into her mouth and poured water over it, causing her to lose consciousness multiple times. Plummer is also accused of repeatedly striking her in the head with a metal water bottle.

Hospital staff said one of the cuts was so deep it exposed her skull. Moreover, the health workers claimed Plummer later tried to seal the wound using superglue, True Crime News reported.

WXIN reports the victim said Plummer then forced her to record statements on his phone to cover up the alleged attack, before passing out after drinking vodka and cranberry juice. She said she was able to escape once he was unconscious.

The outlet says Plummer allegedly has a history of physically assaulting her, but she told investigators the June 12 incident was the most severe. Two days later, she reported an alleged rape during the same attack, saying he then gave her a towel and told her to clean herself up and make him food.

She said Plummer told her: “I would love to blow your head off. It would make me happy.”

Deputies were also told Plummer allegedly shoved a “rag-like object” into the victim’s mouth, then laid it over her face and poured water on it – leaving her struggling to breathe. She said she drifted in and out of consciousness during the ordeal, Fox 59 reported.

Plummer has been charged with two counts of rape while in possession of a deadly weapon, plus one count each of criminal confinement, strangulation, intimidation and interference with reporting a crime. The sheriff’s office said he remains in jail on $450,000 bond (£353,000).
