Peruvian spiritualists have done their best to get Harry Kane firing again in England’s crucial match tonight against Panama, performing a ritual on TV
Spiritualists have done all they can to lift a wild curse placed on the head of England captain Harry Kane, carrying out a live ritual on TV to get the England captain firing.
A Ghanian witch doctor claimed to have put a curse on Kane before the Three Lions last game on Tuesday, which ended in a frustrating and dull 0-0 draw at Gillette Stadium in Boston.
The Three Lions failed to get the win, meaning they go into Saturday’s evening match with Panama eager to get the win to secure top spot in their group.
Ghanaian witch doctor Nana Kwaku Bonsam claimed that he cast a spell on the English captain, and worryingly, it seemed to work.
England were limited to just four shots on target despite dominating the ball against Ghana’s low block. The golden chance to win the game fell the way of Kane, but England’s all-time top goalscorer sliced a left-footed volley over the bar after Nico O’Reilly had headed against the woodwork.
Bonsam, who famously claimed responsibility for Cristiano Ronaldo’s knee issues ahead of the 2014 World Cup, insisted he didn’t want to injure Kane permanently, but merely wanted to “stop his vibrations” so Ghana could avoid defeat.
Superstition or not, what happened next on the pitch had fans talking. He now claims he has lifted the so-called curse, meaning Kane should be back in scoring form, but it seems some are not willing to take any risks.
Peruvian spiritualists have gone all out – getting their own life-sized cardboard cutout of the Bayern Munich striker – and have performed a ritual live on TV to make sure that hex is well and truly gone.
Bonsam wrote on Instagram: “I am the most powerful spiritualist in the whole world. Now, I am going to release Harry Kane so that in his next match he can score a goal.”
But the Peruvian voodoo specialists say they have cleansed him in their ritual, which saw shamans chant spells so that he can perform well in the rest of the tournament by slapping him with bunches of leaves while “freeing” him of any negative energy as “healing music” played in the background.
They were also spotted tying knots of strings and breaking them over his shoulders, seemingly “breaking” anything bad which had been “placed upon his shoulders”.
England have already officially qualified for the World Cup Round of 32 after a 4-2 win over Croatia in the opening match and their hard-fought 0-0 draw with Ghana.
The Three Lions currently have four points and have advanced to the knockouts, but need to top the group to get a more favourable draw as the competition goes on.
Ghana have also advanced to the knockouts with a match to spare, as confirmed by FIFA, and will play at the same time as England – facing Croatia in Philadelphia.
Fans on X reacted to Kane’s display after Nana’s intervention, with one user saying: “Thomas Tuchel got Timo Werner flashbacks when Harry hit that moon ball.” A second said: “Kane didn’t miss, he just got spiritually pressed.” While a third added: “I don’t want to say it worked, but the proof is in the pudding, well the proof is from the six-yard box actually.”
Speaking after the game, Kane was asked about that wasted chance: “You go through games like that. I was just waiting for an opportunity like that to fall my way. It was the kind of game as a striker where you’re just waiting for the ball to bounce, and it did.
“I just couldn’t quite get over the ball, but I’d back myself to score that more often than not. It is what it is. I’ve been a striker long enough to know they don’t always go in, so I have to accept it.”
“I was almost man-marked by [Thomas] Partey for a lot of the game. I didn’t really have the space to drop deep and then arrive late in the box, and they also defended the box well.”
