England have made it into the knockout stages of the World Cup in the hopes of making it to the final in New York on July 19. But the team talks, super subs and formation talk could all be a massive waste of time.

That’s because some conspiracy theorists claimed the competition is scripted – with the winners already decided. The theory is currently doing the rounds online and claims that regardless of the superstars on show in nervy games, the script is already written.

Bookies say France, Spain or Argentina are the favourites to win the tournament, and the route taken by teams could see these teams meet in the quarter and semi finals.

But many now believe there is a whole new way of telling who will be lifting the prestigious trophy this summer – and it has all been decided on the colour scheme of the tournament.

Sounds odd but the viral theory claims this is not only real but has been happening for the last couple of tournaments, and we can easily work out who wins it based on their home nation’s strip. But what does it all mean?

Qatar 2022

When Lionel Messi’s Argentina took home the glory in Qatar in 2022 – their colour scheme DID match the shirt colour.

Qatar’s colour theme for the entire tournament was two shades of blue, alongside a yellow and burgundy, and it is this exact colour scheme seen on the Argentina kit and badge.

The lighter blue is the colour of the Argentinian, while the yellow fits with the sun emblem and the flag is burgundy, which outlines the sun.

Russia 2018

The French bagged world football’s biggest prize in 2018, and yet again – the colours seemed to match. France beat Croatia in the final in Moscow and like Qatar, Russia had its own colour palette for the tournament.

These were two darker shades of blue, black, red and creamy yellows – all said to reference the Russian flag, heritage and culture, but they also matched everything to do with France.

The French home kit is navy, while their away kit is often white, cream or another pale colour. The third country in the French tricolour is also red, meaning the team is well represented.

Brazil 2014

Brazil’s World Cup palette featured vibrant yellows, greens, reds and oranges but this year Germany won the trophy.

This one is slightly a stretch but it is not a million miles away. The yellow and red match the German flag while the green was the colour of their away kit this year.

Who will win the 2026 World Cup?

The colours for this year’s competition is navy blue, red, and white.

A few teams match this, including USA, Portugal and even England, but could the colours be favouring Portugal?

The colours match up, and there is also five shields in the middle of the crest which are blue. Not only that, many people believe a meme from The Simpsons has predicted a win for Portugal against Mexico.
