David Seaman has given the fans the chance to win bit of kit he can’t live without during the World Cup.

The England and Arsenal icon is back with some gloves on, but this time he’s behind the wheel of his beloved fishing van rather than between the sticks. Seaman has worked with Motorway, the UK’s biggest car selling platform, to create a pair of driving gloves, modelled on the size 11 hands.

Starring in a social media film, the cheeky keeper admits that 20 years after retiring, he still can’t switch off, with his goalkeeping instinct very much alive and well, as he barks orders and shows his reactions in everyday life.

In the film, Motorway sends David a pair of bespoke D(r)iving Gloves designed to help him in these moments, in goal, and most importantly, behind the wheel too.

Football fans can win the limited-edition gloves that combine leather driving-glove construction with goalkeeping-inspired grip technology.

They feature a wrist strap made from seatbelt fabric and 40 breathable air holes for Seaman’s 40 international clean sheets and are signed by David Seaman himself.

Speaking to Daily Star Sport , Seaman joked: “When Motorway approached me, I wanted to do it because it’s a bit of fun. The idea of designing a pair of gloves that are just as good behind the wheel as they are in goal really appealed to me.

“I put them through their paces during the photoshoot. It was great fun catching a football again, which I haven’t done for quite a while, and thankfully the ball was still sticking. Then I drove my fishing van home afterwards, so it was a good day all round!”

He added: “Mainly the fact it was about gloves. I quite liked wearing gloves – or at least I used to – and when they came up with the idea of combining goalkeeping gloves with driving gloves, I thought it was brilliant.

“I enjoy things that are a bit of fun, and this was exactly that!”
