Liquidators were appointed to Affinity Packaging Ltd on June 17, according to The Gazette, after the Lancashire-based food packaging supplier breached its Company Voluntary Arrangement
A UK packaging firm, whose products can be found on the shelves of major supermarkets, has gone into liquidation, reportedly saddled with ‘debts’. Affinity Packaging Ltd was placed into liquidation on 17 June, as reported in The Gazette.
The company prided itself on ‘creating innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions for businesses of all sizes; from local enterprises to multinational corporations’, according to its website. The firm had worked with a number of brands, including popular confectionery company Swizzels.
They first produced the ‘Refreshers Original’ carton for Swizzels back in 2007, and referred to them as ‘one of our most valued and significant customers’, reports the Mirror.
The brand’s products are stocked in major UK supermarkets such as Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s. Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators of the Lancashire-based company by the court.
The Appointment of Liquidators statement reads: “Notice is also hereby given that creditors of the Company who have not yet proved their debts, should submit their proof of debt to the joint liquidators at their correspondence address.”
In 2025, the business entered into a Company’s Voluntary Arrangement. However, the company’s winding up comes after this agreement was breached.
The notice of termination or full implementation of voluntary arrangement reads: “The Company has failed to comply with the terms of the Company’s Voluntary Arrangement, which has resulted in three notice of breaches being issued each on separate occasions.
“A breach was issued to the Directors on 4 March 2026 for failure to make payments to HM Revenue and Customs when due. The Company failed to remedy the breach within the prescribed 30 days and solicitors were instructed to present a petition for the winding up of the Company. The petition was filed on 30 April 2026.”
At the start of the arrangement, the document states that the total sum owed to creditors stood at £2,465,901.
