A childhood dream has come true for Miley Cyrus after she was honoured with her own Barbie Signature Collector doll.
Fresh from receiving her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in May, the popstar has now been transformed into a toy doll by Mattell and fans will be able to buy shops now.
“Seeing my Barbie for the first time is a dream come true,” Miley said. “We spent so much time really digging into the details. That’s something that wasn’t just important to me in designing the Barbie, but it’s also very important to my own creativity and the way that I represent myself.”
In fact Miley was keen to get involved to make sure she doll sufficiently rough-around-the-edges. She explained: “We did not miss any marks when it came down to the design of my doll from the look, the hair, the accessories, the makeup, and the structure. Every detail was purposeful, and we spent a lot of time perfecting her—not to be perfect, because that wouldn’t be representative of me.”
Rather than focus on her iconic look – or lack of – from her Wrecking Ball video, Miley’s doll is decked out in an outfit from her Golden Burning Sun music video, complete with a faux-leather two-piece pant set, hooded jacket and a microphone in hand.
Miley is in good company, joining the ranks of Kylie Minogue, Stevie Nicks, David Bowie, Elvis Presley and Elton John – in the Barbie Signature Series.
However, Miley’s Barbie won’t come cheap, The Barbie Signature Miley Cyrus Collectible Doll will set you back £69.99 and is available from today (July 1) via all major retailers.
“Barbie is dedicated to celebrating trailblazing women who break boundaries and inspire the next generation, and Miley Cyrus lives up to that mission,” said Nathan Baynard, vice president and head of Barbie, Mattel.
“Miley has consistently redefined what it means to be an artist and performer, using her platform to champion individuality and empower others to do the same.
“We are incredibly excited to honour her fearless approach to self-expression and celebrate her authentic spirit with a Barbie for fans around the world.” Fans will have to accessorise with their own home made wrecking balls.
