Brit influencer Brooke George, 23, is facing death by firing squad in Dubai after being accused of murdering William Treeby at an apartment in the Gulf city last week
New witnesses may hold “key evidence” on their mobile phones in the case of the Brit TikTok influencer accused of murdering her boyfriend in Dubai, its claimed.
Brooke George, 23, faces death by firing squad if she is convicted of killing William Treeby, 26, who died during an incident at an apartment in the Gulf city last week.
Now police in the UK have been urged to open their own investigation into the case. Brooke, from Gravesend, Kent, remains in custody after being charged with murder. The former John Lewis shop assistant claims she acted in self defence after allegedly being attacked.
The Campaign group Detained in Dubai submitted what it describes as relevant information and intelligence to UK and UAE authorities following George’s arrest and charges.
It is understood there were five people at Treeby’s apartment on the night of the fatal stabbing – Brooke, Treeby, a maid and two of Treeby’s mates, the Sun reports.
It is believed one of Treeby’s pals allegedly contacted people in the UK shortly after the fatal incident.
Campaigners claim these calls alongside information on the men’s phones could posses details which may help create a timeline of events. One of the men who was in the apartment on the night of the incident is also allegedly wanted by Kent police.
Prior to his death Treeby was due to stand trial Maidstone Crown Court. He had been accused of conspiracy to supply cocaine after a Kent police investigation by their County Lines and Gangs Team.
The 26-year-old was one of seven defendants who were charged in the case – one of the men also charged is understood to share Treeby’s flat in Dubai.
Previous court records also revealed Treeby had been convicted of unlawful wounding and common assault. He was hit with a 14-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
Radha Stirling, chief executive of Detained in Dubai, stated the organisation has filed intelligence to “the appropriate UK authorities, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the UAE authorities and His Excellency Mansoor Abdullah Khalfan Juma Abulhoul, the UAE Ambassador to the United Kingdom .”
Stirling added: “Given the gravity of the proceedings and the potential consequences Brooke George faces, we believe it is imperative that every appropriate avenue is explored to ensure that all relevant information is properly considered.
“We are also engaging with Brooke’s local Member of Parliament in Kent to seek support in ensuring that every available investigative and forensic avenue is pursued.
“Where a young British citizen is facing the possibility of the death penalty overseas, there must be a diligent, impartial and comprehensive investigation , with every reasonable effort made to identify, preserve and examine relevant evidence.
“Justice cannot depend upon incomplete evidence or overlooked lines of enquiry.
“Every potentially relevant fact should be subjected to proper forensic examination so that the court is able to reach its decision on the basis of the fullest and most reliable evidence available.
“Nothing less is acceptable where a person’s life may ultimately be at stake.”
