Mexico fans got carried away by their historic round of 32 victory over Ecuador as they threw a stunning World Cup reporter in the air.

The joint hosts secured their first World Cup knockout win in 40 years as Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez struck in the first-half to set Mexico on their way to a 2-0 victory over the South American outfit.

Mexicans were left in a celebratory mood as they set up a last 16 clash at the Estadio Azteca, where they will face England after Harry Kane rescued the Three Lions with two late strikes to beat DR Congo.

It wasn’t just in Mexico where the ecstatic fans were celebrating as in Sacramento’s Memorial Auditorium, the game was being shown on a big screen.

KCRA reporter Peyton Headlee was in attendance as she covered the brilliant scenes and she soon got heavily involved with the action.

As she was speaking to the camera, one fan scooped her up in his arms and fellow supporters helped carry her before they threw her up in the air.

Peyton carried on her coverage to the camera after the fans put her down while other supporters excitedly jumped up and down behind her.

The reporter then posted snapshots of her being hoisted in the air to her near 8,000 followers on Instagram, adding the caption: “Happy to cover a Mexico watch party any day of the week”.

It remains to be seen whether Peyton will be covering Mexico’s next game when they take on England at the Estadio Azteca in the last 16 in the early hours of Monday morning back at home.

The Three Lions will be playing 7,000 feet above sea level and Thomas Tuchel has admitted that it will be ‘impossible’ for England to adapt to the high altitude.

He told talkSPORT: “We will not be ready; we will arrive one day early, but we will not be ready because you cannot be ready in terms of adaptation.

“The body cannot adapt in three days’ time, it’s just impossible. We need 12 days’ time, 14 days’ time. We don’t have it, so it is a big disadvantage, of course.

“Let’s see how much sleep we get, let’s see how much travelling takes [it out of players], if it would be as smooth as here in the US or if it gets a bit more tricky.

“I think there will be a lot of obstacles can come; we play against a home nation, we play in altitude, we play in heat, so humidity.

“Yeah, they will throw it at us; I think we saw today that this team means it. They are ready to walk the talk; when the going gets tough, they show up, and we will do this again.”
