England’s World Cup last 16 clash against Mexico has reportedly changed kick-off times after pubs were allowed to open late due to original 1am time.

However, according to reports in Mexico, the game has been brought forward by several hours to what will be a more reasonable time for people back in the UK. The game is now expected to take place at 7pm on Sunday night (July 5), but it was not a decision made to help out Three Lions fans at home.

Storm warnings had been issued around game time at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and could have seen the game delayed due to thunderstorms. Regardless of the kick-off time, the huge game will remain on the BBC.

FIFA reportedly in discussions to move the World Cup last-16 clash, which would be the first fixture to change at this year’s tournament.

Thomas Tuchel’s men take on the co-hosts in a mouth-watering clash at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday, with kick-off currently scheduled for 6pm local time (1am Monday in the UK).

But talks are under way with relevant stakeholders about moving the game forward due to possible adverse weather conditions in Mexico City, with a new time of 12pm local (7pm Sunday in the UK).

The Football Association has yet to receive confirmation, despite the fact that kick-off time would be less than 48 hours away.
