Eurostar has issued a warning to its passengers that trains running between London and Lille/Brussels/Rotterdam/Amsterdam are likely to experience significant delays today. The train company attributed the disruption to “emergency services attending an incident near the tracks in Lille Europe”.

Those affected by the delays have been offered the option to swap their tickets free of charge to travel at a later date or time. Numerous individuals have already reported travel disruptions on social media, with some claiming their journey from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord has also been affected.

One user posted around 12.40pm: “Eurostar on the ES 9014 9:31am from London to Paris and been stationary on the train at Lille for over 1hr 30 mins and getting v little info about when our journey will continue.”

In response, the operator said: “Hello Haf, we’re very sorry for the delay to your journey today – this is due to an incident at Lille-Europe which the emergency services are attending. We’re awaiting an update from the railway network manager to work out how your journey may be affected.”

Several passengers took to social media after learning about the disruption. Some said there are already delays of two hours.
