Alistair Roberts, 37, from Glasgow, was last seen on CCTV leaving a poker establishment in Tokyo’s Kabukicho district at around 4:30am on July 11. His fiancée and friends have not heard from him since
A Scottish bloke has gone missing in Tokyo after departing a poker game in a ‘red-light’ district.
Alistair Roberts, from Glasgow, hasn’t been in contact with his fiancée or mates since leaving the match in the early hours of Saturday morning. The 37-year-old’s vanishing has been branded completely ‘out of character’, with his loved ones dreading the worst.
The final glimpse of Alistair came from a live camera feed of Kabukicho, an infamous red-light area dubbed the ‘sleepless town’. He was last spotted around 4:30am on July 11 departing a poker venue, as reported by NeedToKnow. Alistair had recently travelled back to Tokyo to be with his fiancée, who last heard from him at 3am, according to his mate Charles Hatch.
His mobile has since gone dead with nobody able to reach him. A missing person’s report has been lodged with Tokyo police who confirm that he isn’t in their custody, reports the Daily Record.
The mate also reveals that efforts to contact the UK embassy have been made. They’re also frantically trying to alert Alistair’s family back home about his disappearance.
Expats, tourists and locals have been urged to come forward with any information they might have on Alistair.
Charles Hatch said: “The police have stated they are searching their systems but as he appeared to be fine in his last sighting, they suspect he may have just decided to disappear on his own volition.
“This is insanely out of character as he just returned to Japan to be with his fiancée, and he was in a sound mental state.
“We are aware it may be possible that he is in police custody, but so far they have maintained their position that he isn’t.
“He is also a regular to the Kabukicho area, and it is very unlikely he has followed any touts.”
