A babysitter has been accused of sexually assaulting a “nappy-clad boy” after sick footage was found on a smartphone.
Victoria Anne Cranmer, 25, was arrested on July 8 on charges including sexual assault on a child, endangering the welfare of a child, creating child sexual abuse material and possession of child sexual abuse material. The New Jersey-native is alleged to have filmed a video of a boy touching her exposed private parts.
She is said to have saved the video to her SnapChat memories. A close friend of Cranmer’s, with whom she had been living for around three months, found the video in May.
The friend, referred to as ‘Ms P’ in court documents, had given Cranmer a new iPhone as a birthday present in April. After growing worried about what she described as Cranmer’s mental health problems, ‘Ms P’ asked the defendant to move out and instructed her to leave behind the phone she’d gifted her, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by Jersey Shore Online.
Upon getting the phone back, ‘Ms P’ looked through its contents and discovered the disturbing 14-second video saved in Cranmer’s Snapchat memories. Cranmer was identified as the woman in the video by tattoos that matched hers, which included “boobs,” a lightning bolt and a mushroom on her legs, as well as a tattoo on her hip, the affidavit stated, reports the Mirror US.
‘Ms P’ was reportedly “freaked out” and saved the video to prevent its deletion, as per the affidavit. She subsequently logged out of Cranmer’s Snapchat account and handed the phone over to investigators.
Heavily censored court documents make reference to the child being in nappies. The charge sheet also indicates that the 25-year-old defendant was 23 years older than the victim at the time she committed the offences in May, implying the child was just 2.
Police interviewed the mother of the victim, who was referred to in court documents as ‘Ms H’, who stated that Cranmer had previously babysat her son. Cranmer had also provided childcare for ‘Ms P’s daughter.
‘Ms H’ informed investigators that she’d observed her son acting oddly after spending time with Cranmer, noting that he no longer seemed fond of the bathtub, according to court documents. It is alleged that she discovered Cranmer had bathed herself with the boy, investigators reported.
Authorities secured search warrants for Cranmer’s mobile phone and Snapchat account on May 28 and found other videos she’d allegedly saved in her account.
One of the clips allegedly depicted Cranmer sitting on a toilet with her genitals exposed while the child touched her, investigators claimed. Cranmer could be heard laughing during the recording, the affidavit asserts.
Cranmer is due to appear in court for a detention hearing on July 14, where it will be decided whether she will be held in jail without bail pending trial.
