An England pundit has demanded Thomas Tuchel is sacked after he led England to a World Cup semi-final exit after his terrible decision cost the Three Lions
An English football pundit has demanded the Three Lions sack Thomas Tuchel after his side crashed out of the World Cup with a whimper against Argentina.
England had gone ahead in Atlanta, through Anthony Gordon, but after the German manager brought on defenders to protect the slender lead and surrendered territory to the world champions, two late Argentine goals flipped the clash on its head – leaving the England players and fans heartbroken.
And after seeing Tuchel replace Gordon with Ezri Konsa and Declan Rice and Reece James with Dan Burn and Nico O’Reilly respectively, Jamie O’Hara demanded his head for the catastrophe on Wednesday evening. Speaking on talkSPORT after Enzo Fernandez equalised, the former Tottenham midfielder fumed: “I told you mate, I told you it’s coming. I told you Jace [Jason Cundy], it has been coming for 15 minutes mate.

“You can’t play this, you cannot play like this against Argentina. They won’t quit!”
“It’s a terrible, terrible decision from Thomas Tuchel! We retreated way too early. We could have had [Marcus] Rashford, we could have had [Bukayo] Saka. We had so much more to give in this game and we just retreated!
“It was a terrible decision, this is what he was brought in for…to get this decision right!” And O’Hara continued his rant after the full-time whistle, following Lautaro Martinez’s stoppage time winner.
He continued: “We’re out, it’s the worst decision ever. It’s a sackable offence, Argentina have won it. Thomas Tuchel you should be embarrassed, sack him, sack him now!”
Tuchel defended his decision to make defensive subs after the full-time whistle: “I did also offensive substitutions in the last games, we just tried to help the players.
“We conceded [a chance] straight away and we decided to go to a back five because the gaps were far too open. They won every header, they kept crossing and crossing so we went to a back five to close the gaps inside and be strong in the air.
“Straight after our goal, without any substitutions, we conceded way too many crosses and way too many chances so we tried to help. Of course, the responsibility is on the coach and if it doesn’t go well, it is easy to say it was wrong.”
