Boxer Hannah Rapp, 26, dies after ‘automotive reversed into her’ whereas she was out biking

A US boxing star, who recently competed for a world title last month, has tragically died in a car crash after a driver allegedly reversed into her while she was out cycling.

Hannah Rapp, 26, had been cycling in Texas yesterday (July 18) when she passed by a car which suddenly came to a stop. The star had been cycling at the time and was not hit on the initial pass but was then reversed into, according to the Brazos County sheriff’s office.

The driver of the car has now been arrested and charged with manslaughter following the horror incident.

Rapp has recently participated in her first world title fight as challenged for the WBC women’s featherweight championship on June 13. She lost to reigning champion Tiara Brown, who called Rapp the “best dance partner I have ever faced as a pro”

Brown added: “It filled my heart because we were getting ready for war, yet she was still asking for my autograph. We fought a great fight. It was my honour to share the ring with her.”

Rapp, who is from Indiana, only turned professional in 2024. However the star had spent her career competing in athletics. As she continued on her boxing career, she also maintained a full-time job as a fire and life safety inspector.

Influencer turned boxer Jake Paul called her a “warrior”. He wrote: “Gone too soon. Condolences to her entire clan. RIP warrior, Hannah Rapp.”

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman also paid tribute in a short statement, calling Rapp and “exceptional boxer”. Sulaiman said: “She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family.”

Most Valuable Promotions, her promoter, said in a statement: “Hannah made a lasting impression on everyone who had the opportunity to meet her.

“She was a gifted athlete, a valued member of the boxing community, and someone who was deeply respected by those around her.

“We are grateful to have shared a part of her journey and will honour her memory in the weeks ahead.”
