The UK is forecast to be hit by a heatwave at the start of August 2026, with weather maps showing temperatures expected to soar to 37C in some areas, according to the Met Office and Netweather forecasters
The next UK heatwave is set to arrive at the beginning of next month, with Netweather maps displaying the country in a deep shade of red, signalling the blistering heat heading our way.
Temperatures are predicted to rocket, with the Met Office cautioning that conditions could become “very warm again by the start of August”.
The height of the scorching weather begins at the end of July and continues for four days. On Friday, July 31, southern regions are likely to experience the most sweltering conditions.
In London, temperatures are predicted to hit 32C, though the hottest spots will see highs of 37C, reports the Express.
The most intense heat is anticipated in Sussex and Gloucestershire. Should temperatures climb this high, heat and health warnings are likely to be issued once again.

- Greater London
- East of England
- East Midlands
- West Midlands
Moving into August, the balmy conditions will persist, with temperatures staying in the high twenties and thirties.
A heatwave is an extended period of exceptionally hot and humid weather, usually lasting for three or more days.
It is determined relative to the typical climate of a particular location, meaning a temperature that is normal in one area can be classed as a heatwave in another.
On August 1, temperatures will climb further in London as the capital will bake at 33C, according to the weather maps. The peak temperature, according to the forecaster, will hit 34°C across Suffolk and Norfolk.
Meanwhile, throughout the Midlands, numerous locations will see the mercury climb to 31°C. The South West will see milder conditions at 27°C.
In the days ahead, the scorching heat will gradually begin to ease. Even so, weather charts continue to show the South East reaching 31°C on August 2.
The Met Office outlook for August 2 to August 16 reads: “Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.”
Thundery conditions could also be in store. It continues: “Although most areas may see dry weather for much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days given the right ingredients.”
