One of Spain’s World Cup winners reportedly suffered heartbreak before their final triumph against Argentina
Spain’s World Cup hero Ferran Torres reportedly broke up with his girlfriend days before scoring the winner in the final against Argentina.
The 26-year-old scored in extra-time in Sunday’s showpiece to dethrone Lionel Messi and co to earn Spain their second ever World Cup title. The Barcelona forward experienced the greatest moment of his career still reeling from a reported heartbreak.
According to Spanish journalist Javi de Hoyos, via Bild, Torres split with influencer girlfriend Martina Hunter prior to La Roja’s 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarter-finals on July 10. De Hoyos stated: “I have spoken with people close to both of them, and they confirm that the romance is over, at least for now.
“Ferran is currently enjoying being single at the World Cup.” The report claims that Torres and Hunter were regularly spotted partying together in Ibiza. However, it adds that the pair have now unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Hunter has almost 60,000 followers on the social media platform with her latest post showing her enjoy a holiday in Bali alongside friends. The blonde beauty has never publicly admitted a relationship with the ex-Manchester City star who previously dated Sira Martinez, the daughter of Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique.
Torres played under Enrique during his second spell as Spain boss from 2019 to 2022 and the manager even joked about their relationship with a public remark. In 2022, the 56-year-old said he’d sub the forward if he ever celebrated a goal with a baby gesture.

The former Barcelona boss said: “I would replace him in that moment, put him on the stands, and he wouldn’t set foot on a football pitch again.” Speaking after his winning goal against Argentina, Torres said: “I think in the end the goal came from 47 million people [approximately the population of Spain], not just those of us that are here.
“Today destiny was written, it was made for us to win. We’re far from our people today but we tried to be as close as possible to them.” He added: Finals are hard. When you have [Lionel] Messi on the opposing team you do get worried, but we always backed ourselves and tried to show our football and I think we managed to do it once again.”
