Handcrafted in Jalisco, Mexico, using 100 percent mature Blue Weber agave, water and heirloom yeast, the deal provides an affordable opportunity to sample a premium tequila that’s scooped multiple international awards.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect either, with margaritas set to be amongst the most sought-after cocktails of 2026, according to Bacardi’s annual Cocktail Trends Report. More drinkers are ditching gin and vodka in favour of agave-based beverages, making this discounted bottle perfect for summer entertaining with a twist.

Crafted by the Gonzalez family, who have been producing tequila for four generations, its flavour is described as ‘floral with a hint of spice’ and is designed to highlight the fresh, naturally sweet taste of agave without added sugars. Due to this lack of sugars, the brand claims tequila is amongst the ‘cleanest’ spirits to consume.
Dubbed the ‘perfect summer refresher’, El Mayor has revealed a Blueberry Margarita recipe that’s guaranteed to thrill guests this season. Adding a fruity spin to this year’s essential cocktail, the brand recommends combining 50ml El Mayor Blanco Tequila, 20ml fresh lime juice and 20ml blueberry syrup before straining over fresh ice with a salted rim on the glass, reports the Mirror.

But Margaritas aren’t the only tequila-based cocktail worth enjoying this summer. Another choice is the Sparkling Paloma, which blends 50ml El Mayor Reposado with 50ml grapefruit soda and 50ml cava, served over ice with a twist of grapefruit peel. The El Mayor Reposado Tequila boasts hints of vanilla, spice, and caramel.
Lastly, the Albatross is perfect for those who favour spirit-forward beverages. El Mayor suggests muddling a demerara sugar cube with three dashes of Angostura bitters before stirring with 50ml El Mayor Añejo (£42.25 at Amazon) and ice. Strain into a rocks glass and finish with orange peel. It’s rather like an Old Fashioned, but with a Mexican twist.
For a budget-friendly, supermarket alternative, M&S’s Distilled Blanco Tequila costs £20 and is crafted using Blue Agave. Customers who tried it said ‘everyone enjoyed their margaritas’, though another called it ‘bland’.
For those who can’t be bothered with the hassle of crafting their own cocktails, ready-made tins might be the answer. Moth cocktails are my preferred choice and a pack of eight margarita tins will set you back £26. The brand describes them as ‘fresh, sharp and confident’.
Over on Amazon, we’ve struggled to uncover a single negative comment about the El Mayor Blanco Tequila. One customer remarked: “I can honestly say this is by far the best tequila I have ever tasted. It exceeded my expectations in every way. Unlike other tequila it has a great taste, and indeed smell and is a fantastic choice for sipping, with or without a mixer. Value for money, excellent flavour, nice bottle.”

It’s purely the bottle’s complete price that might hurt the wallet somewhat, but a third customer declared that ‘on sale, this is unbeatable’. They continued: “It easily competes with my two favourite tequilas (and I have tried most), Patron and Casamigos, but at a much better price point. It’s really smooth and balanced but the agave notes still come through beautifully.”
A fourth customer, who savours even more premium spirits, observed: “For a £50ish tequila it’s okay. I wouldn’t say this is as good as a £150 bottle. Drinkable yes but saying it’s good sipping tequila is a little bit of a stretch. I only just opened it though and I find sometimes letting tequila ‘breathe’ a little helps pronounce the profile a bit. Maybe I will update my review in a few weeks as I only have a shot occasionally.”
Another five-star review stated: “Really enjoyed this tequila! My friend recommended so I treated myself and it food not disappoint – very smooth, fresh tasting and lovely over ice. Looking forward to trying it out on a couple of cocktails next. The bottle is also very attractive so great for gifts.”
