Jurgen Klopp has returned to management with the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund boss being confirmed as the new German manager
Jurgen Klopp’s return to management has been confirmed with the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund boss taking over the German national team.
In a press conference on Friday the German FA confirmed Klopp has signed a contract until the end of the 2030 World Cup, with his start date set for August. His coaching staff will include Peter Krawietz, Pep Lijnders and Sven Bender.
Klopp has been away from management since the 2023/24 season – where he cited fatigue as a reason for stepping down. He has since been working at Red Bull as the head of global soccer.

According to Bild, the DFB will not pay Red Bull a compensation fee to release the 59-year-old from his contract and will instead donate €1m (£860k) to “Wings for Life”, a non-profit foundation by Red Bull.
“We’re very happy to be able to present Jurgen Klopp today as the new coach,” the German Football Association (DFB) president, Bernd Neuendorf, told a press conference in Frankfurt on Friday morning.
“The national team brings us Germans together like almost nothing else can. That’s what makes this task so special for me,” Klopp said.
Klopp’s first game in charge of Germany will be in the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands (September 24) and Greece (September 27).
His side will also face Greece and Serbia in group A2 before preparing for their Euro 2028 qualifying campaign, which will be held in England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland.
His contract will run until the end of the 2030 World Cup in Morocco, Portugal and Spain.
Klopp has been drafted in to replace Julian Nagelsmann – who stepped down from his role after a bitterly disappointing World Cup in North America.
The Germans were dumped out in the round of 32, after a shock loss to Paraguay.
