Emily Willis’ mum Yesenia Cooper has given a major update on her daughter’s recovery after suffering catastrophic brain damage following a cardiac arrest as the adult star is reportedly learning to walk again
The mum of adult star Emily Willis, who was tragically left disabled after a cardiac arrest, has given an update on her daughter’s current condition.
Emily was diagnosed as “permanently disabled” following the horror incident that left her with catastrophic brain damage more than two years ago.
On January 27, 2024, Emily – real name Litzy Lara Banuelos – checked into Summit Malibu, a luxury rehabilitation facility in California. She was seeking to overcome an addiction to ketamine.
Her family maintains that she entered the facility clean and was fully committed to turning her life around. However, just eight days later on February 4, a nurse practitioner discovered Emily unconscious in her room.
Emergency services were called and CPR was performed immediately. However, It remains unclear precisely how long she had been in that state before being found.
When paramedics arrived on the scene, they performed intense resuscitation efforts for up to 40 minutes before her heart began beating again.
Updates on Emily have been coming out from both her family and lawyer but now her mother Yesenia Cooper has revealed more about her movement and communication.
In a conversation with TMZ, Yesenia says Emily remains non-verbal but can communicate with her. She reportedly uses her eyes and shakes her head.
This has been reported in a previous update but Yesenia has now revealed that Emily now understands what is going on around her. The mum claimed her daughter understands about 80% of what is happening around.
Yesenia also added more about how Emily is able to move after pervious reports she was bed bound. She told TMZ that Emily’s recovery is slow but she has started to learn how to walk again.
She also added that Emily, who still need help feeding, can sleep on her own and is back watching movies and TV shows.
The updates come after reports Emily’s family reached a $3 Million settlement after suing the facility, claiming they failed to properly care for Emily while she was being treated for ketamine addiction at Summit Malibu earlier that year. The defendants denied wrongdoing and did not admit liability in the settlement.
