Manchester United are revamping their squad this summer and Michael Carrick’s Red Devils have been linked with another swoop on Premier League rivals
Manchester United have been very active in the summer transfer window and that shows no signs of stopping yet.
The Premier League giants have made five signings – three for the first team squad – with the arrivals of midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for a combined £85million, plus back-up goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Another midfielder and defensive options remain on the agenda.
The club have shown interest in Newcastle and England left-back Lewis Hall, while transfer outgoings are also of vital importance as Michael Carrick revamps the Red Devils and prepares them for a return to the Champions League. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Lewis Hall transfer update
United have expressed interest in Newcastle defender Lewis Hall and are contemplating a move for the full-back, reports the Mirror.
This development comes after Thursday morning’s announcement that Eddie Howe has parted ways with Newcastle, bringing his nearly five-year tenure at St James’ Park to an end.
United are said to be “weighing up” a move for £60m-rated Hall, given the current instability at the Magpies. However, it’s reported the England international could still be convinced to stay, depending on who succeeds Howe.
From United’s perspective, the ex-Chelsea academy product is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Luke Shaw in the left-back position.
However, Newcastle might be hesitant to part with another key player, having already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, while Bruno Guimaraes is heavily linked to a move to Arsenal.
Hall clocked up 46 appearances for Newcastle across all competitions last season. The 21-year-old’s contract runs until 2029, following his £35m transfer from Chelsea in 2023.
Exit announced
United have announced young defender Tyler Fredricson has finalised a permanent switch to Swiss outfit Lausanne-Sport. The 21-year-old centre-back made four senior appearances for United after progressing through the club’s youth system.
Upon his departure, Fredricson posted on his Instagram story: “Once a red, always a red.”
In a heartfelt statement, the club said: “Tyler Fredricson has agreed a permanent transfer to Lausanne-Sport, subject to registration. A lifelong Red from south Manchester, he worked diligently while proudly rising through the ranks of our world-famous youth system.”
The statement continued: “Joining the club at Under-9 level, Tyler has been a model professional throughout his time with the club and a popular member of our Academy squads.
“His place in United’s history books is also secured as a recipient of the prestigious Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award in 2025.
“Lausanne finished ninth in the Swiss Super League last season, and they hope to progress this term following July’s appointment of new head coach Luka Elsner.
“Everybody at United thanks Tyler for all his efforts during his time with the club and we wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
Talks confirmed
Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill was the subject of an enquiry from Manchester United, according to the player’s agent.
The shot-stopper impressed for the South Americans as they faced the likes of France and upset Germany during the World Cup.
The 26-year-old is set to leave Argentine Primera Division club San Lorenzo this summer and United were linked with his signing.
Now, his representative Mario Jara has claimed the Red Devils reached out, but any prospect of a deal appears to have passed, with former Leeds keeper Karl Darlow signed as a back-up to Belgian custodian Senne Lammens.
He told DSports Radio: “We are in talks with English clubs as well as clubs in Germany. There were enquiries with Manchester United.
“We only received two concrete offers. We are currently in the negotiation phase. The sale is close, the time is right.
“We have to handle it very carefully because there are many things involved. It’s ideal for him to take a step up in quality. He’s prepared and capable of playing in any league, without a doubt.”
He added: “We’re trying to finalise it as quickly as possible for everyone’s benefit. It would be very important for San Lorenzo; hopefully, it will come to fruition.”
