Kelci-Rose Bowers angered fans at the World Cup following England’s semi-final defeat to Argentina but the defender now has new fans after she signed for a non-league club

Kelci-Rose Bowers has signed for a non-league club in England in a shock career move after angering fans at the World Cup. The WAG, who is dating Tottenham defender Marcos Senesi, has agreed a deal with Bournemouth’s league rivals, Hashtag United.

The semi-professional club announced their signing of Bowers on a free transfer from the Cherries with a video on social media. The 22-year-old boarded a train to the club’s home in Essex in the clip, which was captioned: “NEXT STOP – Hashtag United.”

Bowers met Senesi when the pair were both at Bournemouth. The Spurs defender also made a switch this summer, completing a free transfer to north London after four years with the Cherries.

Senesi was in action at the World Cup, representing Argentina where they finished runners-up to Spain. The centre-half was supported by Bowers, who made headlines of her own in the stands.

The defender represented England at youth level but claimed her allegiances were split because of her partner. As a result, Bowers was spotted in an Argentina kit throughout the tournament which riled up English supporters.

She even donned the South American nation’s kit when they faced England in the semi-finals. After the Three Lions’ 2-1 defeat to Argentina, Bowers was quick to pledge allegiance to her nation with the caption: “Proud of my country.”

The WAG admitted to The Times that she was in an unusual position at the World Cup due to her partner’s nationality. She said: “I grew up wearing an England shirt and had the privilege of representing England, so that connection will always be incredibly strong.

“[But] when your partner is playing in one of the biggest games of his career, naturally you want him to do well too. I’ll be supporting Marcos personally while still feeling incredibly proud whenever I see England on a stage like this. I’m incredibly proud of him.

“Supporting Argentina, embracing the culture in Argentina and posting on my social media wearing the Argentina shirt is something that I’ve been doing. And I don’t really feel like there’s anything wrong with that.”
