WARNING DISTRESSING CONTENT: Kaden Manuel Lewis Shrum, 18, is accused of ‘nibbling’ a nine-day-old baby’s face at a home in Indiana, US, to stop it from crying
A babysitter has been accused of eating a newborn’s face to stop it from crying before telling police the infant looked like a “busted up egg”.
Kaden Manuel Lewis Shrum, 18, is accused of “nibbling” on the nine-day-old baby’s cheek on July 14 at an Indiana, US, home while he was looking after the newborn.
Authorities allege Shrum – who tips the scales at 113kg – followed the “nibbling” with repeated “chomping down” motions, FOX59 reports.
Shrum was arrested and charged with felony battery with injury to a person under 14. According to court documents a pediatrician first alerted child protective services to the newborn’s injuries on July 14, prompting a probe from the Bloomington Police Department.
Shrum is reported to have confessed to biting the child to keep it quiet at around 4am.
He was arrested at the hospital, with the baby’s current condition unclear. It is not known whether Shrum and the child had any relation.
Shrum faces felony charges in separate cases for battery with a deadly weapon and was re-arrested on a bond revocation warrant for the prior cases.
Earlier this year a man was arrested in Texas for launching a horrific “cannibal-attack” on a three-year-old toddler.
The girl’s mother claims Atharva Vyas, 24, pinned the girl to the ground and pressed his thumbs into her eyes, while biting her cheeks causing “life-changing” injuries.
The child’s mother alleged two of her daughter’s teeth were yanked out during the attack. After the incident the toddler was rushed to Christus Children’s Hospital for medical attention.
Authorities claimed Vyas had consumed “wax” a potent cannabis concentrate, stating a single dose can equal smoking 15 to 20 joints. Research indicates the substance can trigger psychosis and paranoia alongside impaired impulse control.
