A man convicted of raping and murdering two women in London was recorded leaving his home before heading to the site where he committed a horrific act.
Simon Levy, 40, was recorded walking quickly away from the home he shared with his mother and sister in Tottenham the night before Sheryl Wilkins, 39, was found dead in a nearby car park.
Levy was found guilty yesterday (Friday, August 7) at the Old Bailey of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo in March 2025 and Sherly Wilkins in August that year. Now sick new footage has emerged, showing the killer leaving the terraced address wearing casual clothing and a backpack shortly after 9.30pm on August 23, 2025. He does not return until the following day.
During Levy’s Old Bailey trial, CCTV footage from that evening showed Levy and Miss Wilkins visit the side area of the B&M car park on Tottenham High Road.
Miss Wilkin’s body was discovered by two police officers on patrol at around 6.30am on August 24. The court heard that spot was the same location Levy violently raped another – surviving – woman, eight months before.
Police have admitted they bungled efforts to have Levy remanded in custody. Three court hearings were held where prosecutors were unable to provide crucial information which demonstrated the extent of danger he posed to women. BBC reports that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) also acted too slowly.
Levy was known to police and prosecutors before he embarked on a path of grim violence. He was first jailed for a sexual offence in 2021 and while in prison he sexually assaulted a female prison officer.
After his release he carried out a series of sexual assaults on trains across London between 2023 and 2025, while also being the prime suspect in a rape investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “While the IOPC investigation takes place, we are unable to discuss the failings in too much detail. The IOPC has access to all the facts and will be able to scrutinise where any shortfalls were made. It’s vital we allow processes to take place and not prejudice any officers or staff. “Having said that, we have not stood still. We have conducted several reviews and have implemented learnings – actively improving the public safety delivered by various teams as well as delivering new training objectives to help improve partnership working and information sharing and an automated system for charge data – which helps identify cases that need multiple forces to be aligned from the start.
“We need the criminal justice system to come together and set out a clear plan of action which sees repeat offenders – like Levy – automatically placed on remand to protect the wider public.”
