Arsenal information: Julian Alvarez switch replace clear as £85m signing again on the playing cards

Arsenal have already made two major signings this summer, but Mikel Arteta is still in the market for more new faces as the Gunners look to retain their Premier League title

Mikel Arteta can splash the cash again this summer

Arsenal are operating from a position of power after winning the Premier League title last year, and Mikel Arteta landed his biggest signing of the summer when Bruno Guimaraes finalised his £75million switch from Newcastle United.

The Brazilian was a vital figure for the Magpies and will help strengthen the Gunners’ midfield, with the 28 year old determined to claim silverware at his new home. “I want to win trophies, I want to make history, and I think I’m in the right place to do it,” he told the club’s website.

Guimaraes arrives alongside winger Christos Tzolis and the permanent signing of Piero Hincapie. But Arsenal are not done as Arteta looks to add a world class attacker to his side. Here, the Daily Star Sport examines some of the most significant transfer news surrounding the club.

Arsenal are said to be contemplating reviving their interest in Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz. The Gunners are hunting for wide options after failing to secure a deal for Vinicius Junior, who has committed to a fresh six-year contract with Real Madrid.

The Times reports that the Gunners are considering reviving their pursuit of Yildiz following an initial approach earlier this summer. The 21 year old is said to have been tracked by Arsenal since last season.

Nevertheless, Juventus are understood to be reluctant to part with the Turkey international, whose deal extends until 2030. The Metro adds that the Italian heavyweights sought around £85m for Yildiz when Arsenal and other Premier League clubs expressed interest 12 months ago.

Yildiz has been at Juventus since arriving from Bayern Munich’s academy in 2022. He netted 11 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has restated the club’s position regarding Julian Alvarez’s future. Arsenal have been linked with a blockbuster swoop for the Argentina international throughout the summer.

Alvarez has previously voiced his wish to depart Atletico this summer, with Barcelona understood to be his favoured destination. However, his manager has stressed that the situation remains unchanged and Atletico have no intention of selling Alvarez.

“The situation is very clear, the club made a decision that Miguel Angel Gil Marin [Atletico’s CEO] explained very well,” Simeone said. “We are very happy with Julian, from a sporting perspective, we’re very happy to have a player like Julian, and we’ll help him continue to grow and improve.”
