With the hot weather here to stay, many are looking for ways to stay cool – and that includes while driving. That is why shoppers are on the hunt for a sun-resistant cover, with many praising the Beeway Car Windshield Cover on Amazon.
The Beeway Car Windshield Cover is currently listed as an Amazon’s Choice product and it’s available for £21.99 in both the standard and extra-large sizes. It is made of four layers – PEVA aluminum foil, spunlaced cotton, composite cotton and soft non-woven lining – and it is described as ‘ultra thick and heavy duty to keep the windshield clean and clear’.
The brand claims it blocks out nearly 99% of UV rays, helping to bring down the temperature during hot and sunny weather, and it can also prevent frost, snow and ice build up on the windshield in the winter. The standard size (140 x 90cm) fits for cars and SUVS and the extra-large size (145 x 100cm) fits for SUVs, vans, trucks and minivans.

It is easy and convenient to use, with no tools required for installation, and it has a side flaps to prevent it from falling off. It is also multipurpose, as it can be used as a camping table mat, a tent sleeping pad, a pets’ sitting car mat and a crawling mat outdoors.
Argos has this The AA Windscreen Frost and Sun Shield, which is currently available for £4 in the clearance sale. This double-sided windscreen protector is said to keep interior cool in the summer and free from frost in the winter. It is also waterproof and ‘suitable for most various sized cars’.

Or at Debenhams, there’s the Hillington Car Windshield Cover with Mirror Covers For Snow Protection for £17.99, down from £24.99, in the colour grey. The reflective aluminium coating lowers interior temperatures, the site says, and the cover’s barrier helps prevent snow and ice penetration. Its water resistance allows for easy frost removal, too.
The Beeway Car Windshield Cover has been given an overall average rating of 4.6 out of five stars on Amazon from more than 7,800 reviews. One shopper said: “Very pleased with this purchase. It does exactly as described. Easy to use, and store in its bag. Car is so much cooler in this unusual hot weather.”
Another wrote in a five-star review: “Excellent sun windscreen protector, more robust than my last one. Folds away for easy storage and fits my hatchback perfectly. Thoroughly recommend.”
While a third added: “An excellent, all-weather screen cover, easy to use with little to no tendency to fly off while fitting. Effective in deflecting the heat of the sun and lowering the internal temperature of the car compared to the ambient temperature. The added bonus is it can be used during the winter to prevent the windscreen frosting over – although for obvious reasons this benefit has yet to be tested!”
Others deducted stars, with one writing: “The screen cover is a good size and well made and ideal for keeping the car cool when parked in the heat. Only given 4 stars as the bag that came with the cover to store it in is useless. It is too small to accommodate the folded screen cover so will have to find something else to store it in.”
Another commented: “If you’ve got a high tech car and a south-facing driveway then you need one of these. Easy to fit and keeps the car and the delicate electronics inside cool. The only improvement would be to add some rubber magnets on the top edge to help keep it in place when fitting it in a breeze..”
