Our fun quiz series Name the Football Star is back to bring a bit of light relief to the worst day of the week.
Every Monday, we’re testing the football knowledge of our Star Gold premium subscribers, who simply have to identify famous stars. What could be easier? Well, there’s a catch – all you have to go off is the player’s Wikipedia profile and their senior career clubs. Not that easy.
The only clues you’ll be given are their list of clubs, number of appearances and number of goals scored – essentially the information on the right-hand side of their Wikipedia page. However, you won’t be privy to their nationality or position. So can you identify the five footballers just by perusing their Wikipedia column?
This week there’s a Manchester United legend who helped them lift the very first Premier League title, a rival from across the same city who shone for England, a beloved ITV pundit and a star who admitted his transfer fee was “ridiculous”.
So, fancy a punt at guessing some of the players in this week’s Name The Football Star quiz?
To bag all five points, simply type in the name of the player you believe it is. But watch out, any misspellings will result in a fail for that question.

We’re feeling generous so we’ll accept either their full name or just their first or last name – whichever you can recall.
And don’t forget to challenge your mates and family to beat your score so they too can squander 10 minutes of their workday while they’re shackled to a desk.
If you’ve enjoyed this quiz, and let’s face it, why wouldn’t you? Then make sure to return every Monday for another instalment.
