Members of the public have been warned to ‘stay away’ from a bright red moggy in Texas, with many online dubbing the feline ‘a cat from hell’
A bright-red cat has been spotted wandering a Texas city – with the public urged not to approach the weird-looking feline.
Rescuers are now trying desperately to catch the moggy after it was spotted in League City last week. Authorities said people should not attempt to rescue it, with additional attempts to approach her potentially hindering their efforts.
“We are aware of the cat that has been seen around the community with red dye or paint on her fur, and we want everyone to know this baby is not forgotten,” League City Animal Care wrote in a statement.
They added: “Our team is actively working to safely trap and get this cat into our care so she can receive the attention she needs.”
Yesterday (August 10) rescuers said they were still working to trap the kitty with some help from cat caregivers near to its stomping grounds.
Pictures of the red cat have sparked concerns from members of the public who believe it might be tied to a dog-fighting ring.
“I could be wrong, but aren’t “painted” animals usually associated with illegal dog-fighting rings? Could be it escaped from such a situation and maybe investigations need to be made about possible dog fighting rings in our area?” one user wrote.
“I hope the police are involved to catch who did this. You know someone has a video of this being done,” another user said.
One person dubbed the cat “Lucifer”. “As a cat guy, feel bad for the little fella, hope he gets fixed up and finds a home,” they wrote.
“But you gotta admit, he does look like a possessed, blood drinking badass, from the fiery pits of hell,” the person added. “Lucifer’s four-legged friend.”
Police have not yet announced an active investigation or any potential charges of animal cruelty.
