A mum has issued an urgent safety warning after her daughter and three friends were reportedly chased by a man in Middleton Park in Leeds during the terrifying 20-minute ordeal
A mother has issued a stark warning after her daughter and three friends were allegedly pursued by a man in a Leeds park in West Yorkshire after he jumped out of the bushes.
The terrifying ordeal unfolded in Middleton Park, according to the mum who shared her account on social media. She revealed how a man sporting a head torch emerged from bushes in the park and began yelling at her 19-year-old daughter, her friend and two teenage boys.
The mother explained the man was clutching something in his hand and appeared from the bushes close to where a tent had been set up.
She described how the man was screaming and shouting before pursuing the four teenagers. The two girls abandoned their shoes during the frantic escape and were left with cuts covering their feet and legs.
The two boys also dropped their phones, reports Leeds Live.
The mum shared photos and a comprehensive account on social media, which has since been circulated thousands of times. The images, seen by the Daily Star, show blood and marks on the legs of one of the girls legs.
The post was also shared to local groups as the mum wanted to warn others to stay vigilant while visiting the popular park.
In the post she said: “I honestly can’t believe I’m having to write this, but please be extremely careful if you or your children use Middleton Park. Last night, my 19-year-old daughter and her friend, along with two boys of a similar age, were in the park when a man wearing a head torch came out of the bushes near a tent and persistently chased them for at least 20 minutes.
“He was screaming at them and had something in his hand, although they couldn’t see what it was. He also had a noticeable accent. They were absolutely terrified and desperately trying to get away.
“My daughter and her friend lost their shoes, injured their feet and were covered in scratches. The two boys were also scratched while trying to escape, and both lost their phones.
“My daughter has now been released from hospital, but her friend is still receiving treatment for her injuries. She also suffered a massive panic attack, was being sick and was passing out as a result of what happened.
“They are all around 19 years old and should have been able to enjoy an evening together without being chased through the woods and fearing for their safety. It’s absolutely disgusting that this has happened!”.
The mother revealed police have been notified and the tent has since been removed from the park.
She continued: “I’m posting this purely as a warning to other people who use Middleton Park. Please take extra care, stay together and be aware of your surroundings, particularly around the wooded areas. Please share this so people are aware and can take extra care.”
