Arsenal fans can’t wait for the new Premier League season after thrashing title rivals Manchester City and they will be hoping more new faces arrive this week.

Mikel Arteta’s reigning Premier League champions left new City boss Enzo Maresca embarrassed with a thumping 3-0 win in the Community Shield on Sunday. And while the pre-season curtain-raiser certainly doesn’t deliver a major trophy, it’s still another piece of silverware in the cabinet for the Spanish manager.

Before they kick off the new campaign at home against newly-promoted Coventry City on Friday night, the Gunners have secured Bruno Guimaraes, Christos Tzolis, Illan Meslier and Piero Hincapie in the transfer window. But supporters are hoping another exciting attacking option could be coming to North London. Here’s all the latest news from the Emirates Stadium.

Osimhen statement made

Galatasaray have delivered a firm ‘hands off’ message amid Arsenal’s pursuit of goal machine Victor Osimhen, reports the Mirror.

According to reports in Turkey, president Dursun Ozbek has informed his inner circle: “I will not say ‘yes’ to any transaction that will harm Galatasaray or not benefit Galatasaray.

“What I said about Baris Alper Yilmaz, I am now saying even more strongly about Osimhen. No matter how much the price is, I am not selling Osimhen.”

Despite Ozbek’s statement, Turkish publication Sozcu claims Arsenal remain ‘determined’ to sign the 27-year-old Nigerian ace.

He has also addressed the rumours surrounding his future, stating: “There are always rumours during the transfer windows. I’ll focus on my job. I’m focused on my work. We’ll see and think about what comes next then.”

Last season, Osimhen bagged 22 goals in 33 games and he has already begun this campaign with a brace in a 2-2 draw.

Arteta hints at transfer

Mikel Arteta has given a strong indication that Ethan Nwaneri could soon be departing the club.

After participating in pre-season, the attacking midfielder, 19, was left out of the squad for Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester City.

Nwaneri’s absence suggests he will be transferred before the close of the transfer window, with Galatasaray among the clubs showing interest in the young winger.

Ahead of the Community Shield, Arteta spoke about Nwaneri’s future, saying: “I want him to be at the club but something is in the medium-long term what is best for the player as well.

“Ethan needs to play football and if he stays here it’s because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes.”

Arteta’s team selection for the season’s first competitive match implies that those minutes cannot be assured.

The England U21s winger had a breakout season in 2024-25, scoring nine goals in 37 appearances for the Gunners.

But he struggled last season, playing just 12 times and scoring once, before he was shipped out on loan to Marseille, where he featured only 11 times and netted twice.
