Sofia Lips was once known as the woman with Britain’s ‘biggest lips’ before dissolving them
A Manchester model has stirred up controversy after injecting her own lip filler at home, despite urgent warnings from professionals that the procedure could cause infection, nerve damage or even blindness.
Aptly named Sofia Lips, who once proudly sported Britain’s “biggest lips”, dissolved her filler last year in a bid to go natural, but now says she wants her extreme look back.
“I wanted the ultimate fake look again,” she told followers, insisting she’s determined to reclaim her dramatic pout. But salons refused to touch her, warning her lips were already “too stretched” and that adding more filler could be dangerous, leading Sofia to take matters into her own hands, the M.E.N reports.
“I took their words with a pinch of salt – and decided to do it myself,” she announced. Sofia shelled out £500 for a six-week online course covering Botox and how to inject filler into the lips, cheeks and chin. She then purchased 20 1ml syringes of filler online for £488 from a retailer based in Korea.
NHS England guidance cautions that complications from ‘dermal fillers can be serious, including infection, nerve damage and blindness’ and advises people to ‘avoid practitioners who’ve only completed a short training course’.
Sofia stated: “I used all of them at once. I’m so happy with the outcome that I think I’m ready to start doing this on other people. My lips were quite stretched at first, so I struggled to drink and eat. But now, a few days later, they’re just slightly tender. I think I’ve done a better job than the supposed professionals.”
Despite her phone’s Face ID failing to recognise her once more, Sofia is unfazed. She said: “The gasps I’ve been getting in public are wild.
“So many people are taking pictures of me. Clinics just don’t understand the look I’m going for. I want to look like I’ve gone too far and over-the-top. “I’m aiming to be the ultimate fake bimbo doll. “So it’s just something I’m going to have to do myself.
“As I’m on the ultimate quest for perfection – and I won’t stop until I’m perfect.”
Sofia isn’t the only individual recently who has resorted to injecting filler at home. The internet has seen a rise in ‘looksmaxxers’. According to some reports, individuals are attempting to mimic the natural looks of famous influencers using unknown substances – typically silicone – purchased online.
Now, doctors worldwide are sharing their encounters with patients who have suffered adverse reactions from these injections – with one describing the cases as “disturbing”.
Sofia is ignoring any medical advice, despite her life previously being in jeopardy due to a botched plastic surgery procedure. She added: “I literally nearly died as it got so bad.
“There was green gunk all over my bandages from where I was leaking. I didn’t know what was going on – and I worried my life was on the line.”
