Shoreham Port has been swarmed by emergency services with several helicopters also being seen scrambled to the area – unconfirmed reports claim people had been seen getting into difficulty in the water
A major incident has seen emergency services swarm with helicopters also seen scrambling to the Shoreham Port.
A RNLI spokesperson confirmed that lifeboat crews were launched at about 2.50pm on Tuesday afternoon (August 17). However, the nature of the incident has yet to be confirmed at this time. There has been unconfirmed reports that a number of people have gotten into difficulty in the water.
Two other lifeboats were also launched from the Brighton lifeboat station shortly after 3pm. A man has told how his daughter, who lives near the seafront in Shoreham, saw two helicopters landing at the port.
He told The Argus that “a yellow helicopter landed by the lifeboat station” and it was followed by a red and white chopper.
The man added: “There’s loads of police, loads of ambulances, fire engines. A lot of sirens.”
