EasyJet is permanently scrapping all flights from a major UK airport from January 5, 2027. The budget carrier is ditching all services from Leeds Bradford Airport in a bid to concentrate on routes “more popular” with customers.

Existing routes from Leeds Bradford Airport include Barcelona, Majorca, Malaga and Paris, as well as Geneva and Belfast. EasyJet launched its inaugural flight from Leeds Bradford Airport in 2010, to Geneva.

This was followed by additional routes such as Belfast in 2021 and Paris in 2024.

The airline said in a statement: “Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January.

“Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers.

“We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”

The carrier added that it had contacted passengers with flights beyond that date, offering options including free transfers to alternative flights or full refunds, reports the Express.

It comes just two weeks after easyJet announced it was set to be snapped up in a £5.7 billion deal by private equity firm Apollo.

Rising costs in jet fuel and reduced bookings have also triggered a 70% plunge in profits for the company.

Last year, Leeds Bradford Airport unveiled its new £100million terminal expansion, which features additional retail space, seating and fresh lounges. Other airlines still in operation from the airport include Ryanair and Jet2.
