The UK Government has described its security system as ‘rigorous and proportionate’ in light of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s planned return to the country this month.

Reports are circulating that Prince Harry and Meghan are planning a move back to Britain, six years after they moved to the US.

The pair and their two children are anticipated to relocate later this month to a non-royal residence, thought to be outside London.

In response to the news, the Home Office stated: “The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate.

“It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”

The Home Secretary does not have a hand in security arrangements for members of the royal family or other significant public figures.

Security decisions fall under the remit of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec).
