Liverpool will kick off their Premier League campaign with an away match against Newcastle on Sunday as they look to put their struggles last season behind them.

Andoni Iraola has taken the reins in Merseyside this summer, with lofty expectations placed upon him. Arne Slot, led the club to Champions League qualification in his second season, but it was deemed a largely disappointing campaign as the Reds aim higher up the table.

To achieve this, Iraola will require additional players and Liverpool’s transfer dealings are far from over ahead of the deadline. Daily Star Sport provides a roundup of the latest news surrounding the club ahead of Sunday’s journey to Tyneside.

The Spaniard admitted on Friday that his current options appear “thin” and assured there will “definitely” be more new arrivals, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Iraola has promised supporters that additional business lies ahead. “We will definitely sign some players. Some deals you have to wait until the end,” he told Sky Sports.

“But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1, because it is true that we are still quite thin.”

Real Madrid striker Endrick has allegedly turned down overtures from Liverpool to battle for his spot under Jose Mourinho.

The Brazilian is expected to encounter difficulties securing game time after returning to Madrid following a successful loan stint at Lyon.

Endrick, 20, netted eight goals and provided eight assists in 21 appearances in France last season. The striker had hoped to return to Spain with fresh chances to impress for Los Blancos, only to witness his opportunities reduced by the acquisition of Yan Diomande.

Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe are nailed-on starters at Real, occupying two of the three main attacking slots. This leaves £100million signing Diomande as the most likely contender to take up the remaining spot on the right wing.
