Harry is coming home with his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, who are enrolled in a school and set for a September start.
The family are believed to be setting up home in a private, non-royal home base outside London, as they attempt to live here for an undisclosed period of time.
It is believed Harry is coming back so he can be nearby his dad, King Charles, as he battles cancer, and tries to reconnect with the family as a whole.
Back in May 2025, he told the BBC: “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” but three months later he is doing just that.
It has also widely been reported that Meghan is hoping to reinvigorate her acting career while in Britain.
The family have not purchased a home and have retained their residence in California, but now it has been claimed that Harry never got over leaving Blighty and is excited to be back home.
An insider close to the pair is reported as saying: “Step by step, they want to be in the UK. They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.
“It’s something Harry has been thinking about for a while.”
Despite building a life in Montecito, California, Harry never fully found his footing there, according to sources close to the family.
They say he struggled to “establish a close social circle of his own” and missed the longtime friends and community he had in Britain.
“Harry never really stopped missing home. He’s missed that sense of connection and belonging. Britain is still home in many ways to him”, but they stressed that the decision to return back was “taken as a family.”
It is said Meghan is on board because she wants her children to experience being part of the UK culture and around more family, especially since their visit in July.
This summer the family came over, and both children reunited with their grandfather at Highgrove before spending time at Althorp, Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place.
They also spent time with Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer, and several of their cousins from Diana’s side of the family.
“He wants them to understand the world he grew up in and where their family comes from,” a source continued.
