Not good enough

I’ve been barred from my girlfriend’s family home – even though her parents have never met me.

They’ve decided that they disapprove. Just because I’m different to them, they think I’m a threat. They’ve told her not to bring me round because they’re not interested in cultivating any kind of relationship.

I’m a professional businessman. I have qualifications and letters after my name.

Yes, I am involved in some big deals, but I’m respectable and straight.

They’ve also told her that I’m a heart breaker; that I use and abuse woman and then walk away.

Again, just not true as my last two girlfriends left me. The irony is that my girl was the one who pursued me. We used to work in the same industry, and she literally laughed me into bed. She was the one who booked our first night in a hotel and seduced me.

She laid on fizz and sex toys. She emerged from the bathroom in a skimpy, satin basque and pinned me to the bed. She took control and made me scream FIVE times over. She was in charge and I was putty in her lubricated hands…

The latest is that the parents are telling her that I’m a crook. Their attitude is so insulting; especially as they’ve rejected every peace offering, I’ve extended regarding meeting up on neutral ground and having a chat.

They consider me common and simply not good enough for their darling girl.

Her evil mother even sent me a text ‘suggesting’ that I leave her daughter alone and move along.

Luckily my girlfriend seems to be able to see through them and believe me. But for how long?

Recently we were out having a meal, and my girl spotted some snobby friends she used to go to school with. Quick as a flash she ordered me to get under the table in case they saw me. Later she apologised and accepted that she acted badly because she was ‘caught on the hop’.

I don’t think she’s ashamed of me but worry about how much influence her friends and family have over her.

JANE SAYS: I don’t see why you’re so keen to impress and win over these ignorant people. If the parents won’t even meet you, then they have no right to have any kind of opinion about you.

You’re a trained, professional, yet they’ve got it into their heads that you’re a crook just because you’re different to them.

You need to face up to the fact that these people are never going to understand or accept you, because they’re stuck in their own little prejudiced rut.

They’ve already decided that they don’t like you and don’t want you for their daughter, without even giving you a chance. As for your girlfriend forcing you to get under the table, what the heck was all that about?

Tell her today that you’re no longer playing this game. You know who you are and what you stand for. This is a fresh start for you.

You’re not asking her to split with her family, but you don’t want to hear any more bile. Personally, I think you’re wasting your time and your energy on a nasty bunch of snobs who are never going to respect you or give you an even break.

Walk away and find better people to hang out with. Ones who deserve you.
