The corpse of a dead man was found still sitting on the toilet after urban explorers ventured into a thought-to-be ‘abandoned house’ leading to the shocking discovery
Urban explorers have found a dead man on a toilet seat while exploring an “abandoned house”.
The man’s body was found inside the building, located in Somerset, which was still decorated with personal belongings despite the back door of the property being wide open. Initially, the explorers decided not to venture into the property after being unsure if anyone lived inside.
However, after a change of heart, the group decided to head into the building, leading them to make the shocking discovery. The gaggle of explorers have stated they found the deceased man inside the residence sitting on the toilet seat. The poor fella was later identified as “John”.
In a social media post penned by Mission_urbex and Just Looking Explorers, they said: “Something about the house kept playing on our minds. Surely if someone was living there, the back door wouldn’t be damaged and left open?
“Inside, everything was still there. Coats and hats hung by the door, the bed was unmade and everyday belongings filled the rooms.
“Outside, John’s little red car sat rotting away, clearly having not moved for years. Eventually, we discovered John deceased on the toilet.
“We immediately called the emergency services, and the police and ambulance attended. What started as a normal explore became something neither of us will ever forget.”
Despite the grim discovery, the urban explorers said they felt peace knowing the man’s remains had been found.
They said: “Who knows how much longer John could have been there before somebody found him.”
Social media commenters shared their thoughts about the tragic series of events. Some users were happy the man’s remains were found. However, others were not fond of the social media post.
One user said: “If you truly wanted to respect what you found and you wanted to keep it secret, you wouldn’t have posted it at all.”
Another added: “This is disgusting that you have posted this, shame on you!”
A third came to the defence of the urban explorers and stated the man “can rest in peace and in dignity”.
